Avoid processed foods. Sugar thrives in processed foods! Practically everything that you buy that comes in a box, bag, or can has added sugars. So cutting back on processed foods is probably the best step you can take to cut sugar out of your life.
When it comes to fruits, choose whole and fresh. While juice, fruit roll-ups, and dehydrated fruit taste great, no one can deny the fact that they’re almost pure sugar! Plus, most of the fiber in these fruits is gone. Be kind to your body and treat yourself to the natural benefits of fruit and eat it fresh and whole.
Embrace the art of DIY. Sugar lives in the grocery store (not at Erewhon Market, though!), so it’s advisable to begin embracing the art of doing it yourself. From tomato sauce to salad dressing, there are so many healthy and simple recipes that you can try in your own home.
Say buhbye to soda. Opt for water with lime or lemon in it instead of soda. If you’re looking for something bubbly, try soda water, either plain or with lime or lemon.
Make rules about desserts. You don’t have to completely give up on desserts. Instead, set a schedule for when you can have a cupcake or a slice of cake, like on weekends or every Tuesday and Thursday. Better yet, find healthier dessert substitutes.
